Course Description

Several exercises have been devised so that Trainees, Advance Nurse Practitioners and Consultants in Plastic, ENT and Maxillofacial Surgery can complete a variety of facial soft tissue surgery simulations based on the more common skin flap procedures encountered.

Objectives:

  • Understand the Physiology of ageing and wound healing
  • Enhanced suturing skills and techniques 
  • How to design and raise the most common local skin flaps

Delegates will be working individually on pig heads covering the following:
 
Educational aims:
Gain experience by simulating:

  • Advancement and Transposition Flaps
  • Rhomboid Flap, Bilobed Flap, Rotation Flap
  • V-Y Flaps

The course provides:

  • Instruction in the use of instrumentation
  • Physiology of skin healing, ageing and aesthetic lines of the face.
  • “Hands-on” practical anatomical and surgical skills experience
