Course Description
Exploring Polymer AM Technologies
• Duration & Level: 1 day, introductory
• Format: Lectures, demonstrations, case studies, and equipment walkthroughs
• Assessment: None
Course Description
This hands-on course provides an in-depth introduction to polymer-based AM processes, including FDM, SLA, and SLS. Participants will examine materials from PLA and ABS to flexible TPU and photopolymers, and learn how process selection and design rules affect part quality and performance. With machine demonstrations, design exercises, and case studies, the course highlights how polymer AM is applied across prototyping, tooling, and low-volume production.
Learning Objectives
• LO1: Describe the key polymer AM processes and compare their strengths and limitations.
• LO2: Identify suitable polymer materials and reinforcements for different applications.
• LO3: Apply DfAM rules (overhangs, supports, tolerances, orientation).
